APR FC edged out bitter rivals Rayon Sports 4–2 in a penalty shootout to retain the Peace Cup at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026.
The victory sealed a domestic double for the army side, who had already secured the Rwanda Premier League title with two games to spare.
Rayon Sports broke the deadlock through a penalty converted by Asman Ndikumana  just before halftime in the 44th minute, APR equalized in the 52nd minute through William Togui Mel.
The match eventually ended 1–1 after normal regulation time, sending the final to a decisive penalty shootout.
Emery Bayisenge and Didier Mugisha converted their spot-kicks for Rayon Sports, while Asman Ndikumana and goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera failed to score.
For APR FC, Hakim Kiwanuka, Gilbert Byiringiro, Claude Niyomugabo, and Denis Omedi all converted from the spot for the military side to retain the trophy for a second consecutive year.
By winning the competition, APR FC also secured Rwanda’s ticket to the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
