APR FC and Rayon Sports have set up a repeat of last season’s Peace Cup final after eliminating their opponents in the semis of the annual Rwandese cup competition.
APR beat Etincelles FC 3-1 in the second leg of their semifinal clash at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday, to qualify on 6-2 aggregate victory.
Rayon Sports booked their place in the final on Tuesday after edging out Gorilla FC on the away goals rule following a 1-1 aggregate draw over two legs.
The result sets up a repeat of last season’s final, where APR beat Rayon Sports 2-0 to lift the trophy.
The victory keeps APR’s hopes of retaining the Peace Cup alive ahead of another highly anticipated showdown against Francis Haringingo’s Rayon Sports side, who are chasing a third Peace Cup title.
The 2026 Peace Cup final is scheduled for May 23, while the third-place playoff will take place on May 22.
With the league title seemingly within APR FC’s reach, Rayon Sports may need to win the Peace Cup — or finish strongly in the league — to secure qualification for continental competitions if APR complete a domestic double.
