Nine times Rwanda national champions Rayon Sports FC suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to bottom-placed AS Muhanga to dent their pursuit of the BK Pro League title at Muhanga Stadium.
A lone goal struck by Fabrice Martin Twagizimana handed AS Muhanga the decisive victory in a fixture that Francis Haringingo’s boys’ went into the match knowing a win would help them close the gap on second-placed APR FC and keep their title hopes alive.
With four games remaining, Rayon Sports still have 12 points to play for, with fixtures against Marine FC, Gorilla FC, Bugesera FC, and Kiyovu Sports
In other league matches, Bugesera FC suffered a heavy 4-0 home defeat to Marine FC in Nyamata, while Gorilla FC edged AS Kigali 2-1 at Kigali Pele Stadium. Mukura VS played out a goalless draw with Police FC, and Rutsiro FC also settled for a 0-0 draw against Musanze FC.
Elsewhere, Landja Bulaya scored the only goal as Kiyovu Sports secured a 1-0 win over Amagaju FC at Kamena Stadium. The victory lifted Kiyovu to fifth place with 47 points, while Amagaju remain 15th with 28 points.
