Azam TV is thrilled to announce its comprehensive and unrivalled coverage of the upcoming 2026 Fifa World Cup, by engaging a formidable team of a renowned commentator and an insightful studio analyst, set to guide you through every pass, tackle and goal during the soccer extravaganza.
Azam has engaged the first African commentator at the FIFA World Cup Bernard Otieno and former Kenyan international and currently serving as Kenya’s national football team Harambee Stars assistant coach Anthony “Modo” Kimani to provide comprehensive studio analysis as the matches are beamed live through the pay tv channel in the East Africa region.
The duo will provide pre-match, halftime and post-game analysis leveraging on team form, tactical approaches, key player spotlights,, live tactical breakdowns, real-time insights from the field, match reviews, standout performances and turning points.
Otieno and Kimani will give the indepth insights of the beautiful games from the state of the art Azam Studios in Dar es Saalaam, Tanzania.
This will be the fourth FIFA World Cup that Bernard Otieno will be featuring as a commentator.
The first being in 1998 in France, 2002 co-hosted by Japan and South Korea, 2010 in South Africa and in Qatar in 2022 working as the lead commentator for Africa’s English speaking countries.
Otieno who was bestowed by FIFA a legendary status after he emerged among a select of African media professionals recognized for their individual roles in sports development, media excellence and long service to profession by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), said he was excited and felt privileged to the offer by Azam TV to serve in his role as commentator to Africans on East African soil.
“This will be the first time I will be operating from outside the host country. I feel nice and honoured to interact with my fellow Africans from the East African region bringing them close to an activity taking place thousands of kilometres away on my home soil,” said Otieno.
