Gor Mahia Patron Eliud Owalo has challenged the club to raise its ambitions on the continental stage after rewarding the players with a Sh1 million token of appreciation following their successful 2025/2026 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) campaign.
Owalo hosted the newly crowned champions to a celebratory luncheon at Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi on Tuesday afternoon, honoring the team after they sealed a record-extending 22nd league title over the weekend at Nyayo National Stadium.
Thousands of jubilant fans turned up to witness the coronation ceremony, marking yet another dominant season for K’Ogalo as they reaffirmed their status as Kenya’s most successful football club.

Speaking during the event, Owalo praised the unity across all levels of the club, crediting the management, technical bench, players, and supporters for their collective role in securing the title.
“It has been a long and demanding journey filled with ups and downs, but the K’Ogalo family remained strong and united,” Owalo said. “The teamwork from the office, technical bench, and playing unit was exceptional and kept the club steady throughout the season.”
He also applauded head coach Charles Akonnor and his technical staff for maintaining composure under pressure during a tightly contested title race, while singling out the playing squad for their resilience in crucial fixtures against teams such as Murang’a Seal, Police FC, and Kakamega Homeboyz.

Owalo further extended appreciation to the club’s supporters, the Green Army, for maintaining discipline throughout the season, as well as the club choir, match stewards, security personnel, women’s team, junior teams, and sports journalists for their contributions to the club’s successful campaign.
He now urged the team to shift focus to continental football and compete strongly in the upcoming CAF Champions League, expressing confidence that Gor Mahia can replicate past continental success and build on their historic 1987 run.
“As patron, I will continue working with the club leadership to ensure the team has an enabling environment to prepare adequately for the CAF Champions League challenge,” he added.
Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier thanked Owalo for his continued support, noting that his involvement had been a key morale booster throughout the season.
