Naibois Face Bankers in Mozzart Bet Cup Quarter Finals
Defending Champions Nairobi United will take on KCB in the quarter finals of the FKF Mozzart Bet Cup tommorow Sunday, 3:30 P.M at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
The match, will be a repeat of last year’s round of sixteen clash that saw Naibois win 6_5 on penalties after a 0_0 draw in normal time before going on to lift the trophy.
Nairobi United remain unbeaten in three competitive meetings against the bankers, winning two drawing one.
Speaking ahead of the match, Nairobi United Head Coach Geofrey Oduor remained upbeat that the boys will get the job done against the Bankers.
“First of all I would like to thank the players, the previous technical bench and the management for winning last year’s tournament. We are in the second edition and are already in the quarter-finals, it shows that our aim to defend the title is very much on course. The boys are ready to face KCB on Sunday, we have put ourselves in a place where we can win two titles in a row.”
Captain John Otieno expressed pride at leading the team to winning last year’s title as well as playing in the CAF Confederations Cup which has given the Naibois renewed hunger to defend their crown.
“We are defending champions and we must play as defending champions. We met KCB last season in the same tournament at the round of sixteen stage, tommorow we face them in the quarter-finals. They won’t face us as underdogs but as defending champions, our mentality is to win. We have had a good run in the league and are positive of getting a good result on Sunday.”
The winner of this fixture will face either Ulinzi or Tusker F.C in the Semi finals. In other fixtures Shabana F.C will take on Police F.C, while Bandari F.C will face FKF Divison One side Mfalme F.C
