Seven times Rwanda Premier League champions SC Kiyovu secured their first victory over Gasogi United in ten meeting at at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
Kiyovu beat Gasogi 2-0 in the Rwanda Premier League, marking a long-awaited win against a side that has historically dominated them.
Abdul Rahman Rukundo open the scoring for the Mumena-based side in the 66th minute before Fidali Uwiyaremye sealed the victory with a second goal in the 88th minute.
The win lifts the Green Baggies to fourth place with 42 points, leaving them 12 points behind league leaders Al Hilal.
Gasogi United had been a difficult opponent for Kiyovu, with the latter managing just one win in their previous ten meetings.
Prior to this encounter, Gasogi held a dominant record against the Green Baggies, including a 4-3 victory on November 5, 2024, along with several draws in past seasons.
Gasogi United has long been considered a bogey team for Kiyovu, often causing upsets in both league and Peace Cup competitions.
