Naibois Complete Double Over Brewers to Move Up to Fourth

Nairobi United completed the double over Tusker F.C in the Sportpesa League with a hard-fought 1_0 victory in an entertaining match played Wednesday at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The Naibois came into the match fresh from a disappointing 1_0 loss to KCB in the FKF Mozzart Bet Cup, a result that saw the champions exit the tournament at the quarter-final stage.

Coach Geofrey Oduor made seven changes to the team that started against KCB at the weekend, giving a chance to several fringe players.

Kevin Oduor came in goal replacing Benard Jairo, Biko Omollo replaced Lennox Ogutu at centre back, David Wafula and Mustafa Kizza replaced Kevin Osanya and Yusuf Mainge in the fullback positions, while Roy Okal and Muhadjiri Hakizimana came in for Brian Mzee and Kevin Wangaya in midfield. Benson Omala led the attack replacing Micheal Karamor.

The solitary strike came in the 18th minute, Muhadjiri Hakizimana unleashed an unstoppable shot from the edge of the eighteen yard box after a neat touch from Duncan Omalla to set him up.

The result ensured Naibois move upto fourth on the log leapfrogging Shabana F.C and Kakamega Homeboyz. Nairobi United remain unbeaten in their last seven Sportpesa League matches, winning four and drawing three. They have won all three of their last Sportpesa League encounters.

Head Coach Geofrey Oduor commended the team for an efficient performance. “Today the plan was to have technically gifted players as well as speedy ones. We had a combination of the two, Muhadjiri who is not very fast but very technical made the difference for us today. Getting a goal and a clean sheet against Tusker is a job well done by the boys.”
