Young Africans Run Riot in Mbeya City

Defending champions Young Africans (Yanga) SC thrashed Mbeya City FC 6-0 in a Tanzania Premier League clash staged at the KMC Complex.

The win was inspired by braces from Prince Dube and Pacôme Zouzoua, alongside additional strikes from Maxi Nzengeli and Mohamed Hussein.

The victory marked the 14th league win of the campaign for Yanga under head coach Pedro Gonçalves, as they tightened their grip at the summit with 47 points, opening an eight-point gap over fierce rivals Simba SC.

The result places the defending champions firmly on course for back-to-back titles and a record-extending 32nd league crown.

For Mbeya City, the heavy defeat compounds their struggles, leaving them languishing in 13th place, just a point above the relegation zone as pressure continues to mount.

Singida Black Stars 1 Mashujaa 1

Kenya’s national football team Harambee Stars forward Elvis Rupia was on target as the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) club champions Singida Black Stars played out to a 1-1 draw with Mashujaa FC at at Lake Tanganyika.

Rupia opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 14th minute, but Mgandila Shaban restored parity for the hosts, ensuring the spoils were shared.

The result leaves Singida fifth on 29 points, while Mashujaa sit 11th with 21 points as the league campaign continues to gather momentum.
