Match Summary

Al Masry began their 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup Group D campaign with a 2–1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at the Suez Stadium on Sunday.

The Egyptian team started strong, applying pressure and forcing Chiefs' goalkeeper Brandon Petersen into action with two early saves. Despite the pressure, Chiefs gradually gained momentum, delivering dangerous crosses aimed at striker Etiosa Ighodaro. Just before halftime, Ighodaro missed a chance to score when his header was saved by Al Masry's Mahmoud Hamdy, leaving the score 0–0.

In the second half, Al Masry earned a penalty in the 59th minute when Petersen fouled a player. Bonheur Mugisha converted the penalty, giving Al Masry a 1–0 lead. Chiefs quickly equalized in the 66th minute when Dillan Solomons scored after a great solo run.

As the match continued, Chiefs pushed for a win, but in the 87th minute, Al Masry scored again when Mohamed Hashem took advantage of a corner, sealing a 2–1 victory.

This win gives Al Masry an important advantage in Group D as they prepare to face Zesco United in Zambia on November 30. Chiefs will look to regroup quickly before hosting Zamalek, another top Egyptian team, on November 29.
