NAIROBI, Kenya – Gor Mahia midfielder Enock Morrison emerged as the biggest winner at the 2025/26 SportPesa League Gala Awards after being crowned the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) following a stellar season that helped K’Ogalo reclaim the league title.
The glamorous awards ceremony, held at the Glee Hotel in Nairobi on Thursday night, celebrated the top performers of the 2025/26 campaign, with Gor Mahia and Shabana among the clubs that dominated the individual honors.
Morrison, who played a pivotal role in Gor Mahia’s march to a record-extending 22nd league title, also scooped the Midfielder of the Season award and was named in the Team of the Season.
The Ghanaian international featured in 31 league matches, scoring three goals and providing four assists while consistently dictating play from midfield. His influence on Gor Mahia’s title-winning campaign made him a clear favorite for the league’s top individual accolade.
Speaking after receiving the MVP award, an emotional Morrison thanked Kenyan football fans for embracing him since his arrival in the country.
“I want to start by saying ‘asante sana’ to the Kenyan community for giving me a home away from home and for providing such an incredible support system,” Morrison said.
“Winning this award is truly special, and I want to dedicate it to the late Raila Odinga and my beloved mother. Thank you for your support; this award is also for you.”
Morrison’s success capped a memorable night for Gor Mahia, with head coach Charles Akonnor also taking home the Coach of the Season award after guiding the club back to the summit of Kenyan football.

Elsewhere, Shabana FC enjoyed a strong showing as Jimmy Owili was named Defender of the Season, while goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng claimed the Golden Glove award following an impressive campaign between the posts.
Murang’a SEAL striker Joe Waithira was another double winner on the night, collecting both the Golden Boot and the Players’ Player of the Season awards after a prolific season in front of goal.
Youngster Humphrey Aroko of Kariobangi Sharks was recognized as the Young Player of the Year, highlighting his emergence as one of the brightest talents in Kenyan football.
