Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has called for unity and respect for due process within Kenyan football following a meeting with key football stakeholders.
Speaking after the consultative meeting, Hussein emphasized that the success of Kenyan football depends on all stakeholders working together toward a common goal rather than pursuing individual interests.
“My first option naturally is that we all come together, we all work together and we move together as a team,” Hussein said. “I have always held this position that we need to move as a team and work together.”
The FKF boss noted that no single individual can succeed in isolation within the football ecosystem, stressing the need for aligned interests among clubs, officials, players, and administrators.
“I cannot succeed in isolation, that one is for sure, but at the same time we have to have aligned interests in whatever it is that we do,” he added.
Hussein also urged stakeholders dissatisfied with certain decisions to follow established legal and constitutional channels rather than engaging in public confrontations. According to him, several football-related disputes are already before the courts for determination.
“If anybody is disgruntled about anything, there’s due process that must be followed, there’s the courts. Right now actually two matters are in court or three, I can’t even remember, I’ve lost count,” he stated.
The FKF president reiterated his commitment to the rule of law, federation statutes, and the Constitution of Kenya, while also referring to recent controversies that he claimed damaged his reputation.
“This was a very gross violation of my constitutional rights,” Hussein said. “You can imagine being smeared all over the country. I have a lot of work to do to clean and clear my name, but the damage has already been done.”
Despite the challenges, Hussein maintained that he remains focused on fostering unity and driving Kenyan football forward.
“I believe in unity, I believe in a common purpose, I believe in a common goal to achieve something greater than our individual interests,” he concluded.
