Safe sex is the gooooal!
2026 FIFA World Cup fans in Toronto will get thousands of free, soccer-themed condoms when the city hosts the much-anticipated tournament this summer — to help them score safely.
“Get ready to score safely,” city health officials said on X. “Whether you’re attending a soccer match, a watch party, hitting a summer festival or partying, remember that condoms protect the health of you and your partner(s).”
Innuendo-packed condom designs include an image of an emoji-style peach standing in a soccer goal, blocking an eggplant as it tries to kick a ball into her “net,” along with images of players shielding their junk during a penalty kick.
The “game day line up” is meant to “promote safer sex, reduce stigma and connect people with sexual health services,” said Toronto Public Health, which is spearheading the giveaway.
The condoms will be given away at clinics and sites around the city “while supplies last.”
Toronto Public Health (TPH) department will hand out limited edition World Cup-themed condoms “that celebrate the energy of the games while promoting sexual health.”
TPH unveiled six different designs, including prophylactics with phrases like “what a finish!” and “block those shots!”
This isn’t the first time that the city’s public health department has issued special-edition condoms around an international sporting event, doing the same for the 2015 Pan American and ParaPan American Games.
Canada is co-hosting the 2026 World Cup with the United States and Mexico, and the Canadian national team begins its tournament against Bosnia & Herzegovina at BMO Field in Toronto on June 12. The city will host six matches total, including a Round of 32 clash on July 2.
In January, the Toronto Sun reported that Toronto Public Health was spending nearly $200,000 on “condoms and other sex paraphernalia for the World Cup.”
Among the items purchased were 576,000 branded condoms and 200,000 individual packages of lubricant. The outlet added that the wrappers on the condoms would come in six designs.
The free World Cup-themed condoms are so that fans can “score safely” next month when the tournament arrives in the city. The last thing the TPH wants is STDs in Toronto getting out of hand.
the six World Cup condom designs hit social media and they are something. The six different designs didn’t just have a soccer ball or World Cup logo slapped on them.
These things are supposedly designed for fans “attending a soccer match, a watch party, hitting a summer festival or partying.” They look like they’re designed for collectors.
That’s plain to see when you see the wrappers for the first time. There are phrases like “block those shots” and “what a finish” on them. But the true magic of the designs is the ones with an eggplant emoji with soccer balls.
