Ryan Wesley Ogam, a striker born in Nairobi on December 21, 2004, is rising rapidly in his football career. Now playing for the Australian team Wolfsberger AC after his transfer from the Kenya Premier League's Tusker FC, Ogam was initially signed as a defensive midfielder but embraced change and has flourished as a striker.
He has already made a significant mark in Kenyan football, scoring the decisive goal in Harambee Stars’ remarkable victory over Zambia. Ogam also demonstrated his talent by netting the only goal in the Stars' match against Morocco during the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).
With an astounding record of 15 goals in 17 league appearances for Tusker FC in the 2024 FKF Premier League, Ogam's journey began with youth stints at Galaxy FC, Sunrise FC, and UEFA Despanol before making his senior debut with Rainbow FC in the National Super League. Following a brief period at Elite Falcons FC in the UAE, he returned to Kenya to join Tusker FC in 2024.
His outstanding performances earned him a call-up to the national team in January 2025, where he debuted during the Mapinduzi Cup. The goal against Morocco marked his first for the Harambee Stars, showcasing his potential in the CHAN tournament.
National team head coach Benni McCarthy sees the spark in Ogam’s talent, even comparing him to Kenyan football legend Michael Olunga. “He is a natural finisher with great movement,” McCarthy noted, highlighting the promise of this young star as he carves his path in the world of football.
