SC Kiyovu Files Case to FIFA Case Against Former Coach

Seven times Rwanda Premier League champions SC Kiyovu have lodged a complaint with FIFA against their former coach Francis Haringingo for a breach of contract.

The club is accusing the Burundian national of breaching his contract after joining rivals and nine times premier league winners Rayon Sports FC before the expiry of his deal.

Haringingo’s return to the Blues late last month has not been welcomed by his former employers, who insist he failed to honour the terms agreed upon when he signed for the Mumena-based club ahead of the Rwanda Premier League 2025/26 season.

Kiyovu spokesperson Hemed Minani said that the Burundian tactician has a contract running until the end of the current campaign.

According to Minani, the coach informed the club of his intention to leave, but was asked to give a 15-day notice period to allow time to secure a replacement—something he declined.

“A case was filed with FIFA because he didn’t honour the contract. He left with two months remaining. There was a clause requiring any interested club to approach us, but that didn’t happen,” Minani said.

Rayon Sports reappointed Haringingo as new head coach, replacing Frenchman Bruno Ferry who left the club after just three months in charge.

The Blues confirmed his appointment on Tuesday, March 31, describing him as a “familiar and valued figure within the team.”

Haringingo brings experience in Rwandan top flight, having previously coached Mukura Victory Sports, Police FC and Bugesera FC before joining Kiyovu before the start of the 2025/26 season.

During his previous spell with the Blues, he guided the club to Peace Cup triumph in 2023 after defeating APR FC 1-0 in the final.
