DAR ES SALAAM: Former Nyerere Cup champions COASTAL Union have parted ways their head coach, Mohammed Muya, following a string of poor results in the Tanzania Premier League.
“In mutual agreement, the management of Coastal Union has decided to terminate the contract of head coach Mohammed Muya,” the club’s official statement said.
The statement further indicated that the club’s management will soon inform the public about the new structure and leadership of the technical bench.
Currently, Coastal Union occupy the 13th position in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League standings, having played 18 matches and accumulated 16 points.
Muya was appointed as the Coastal Union new head coach in October last year, following the dismissal of Ally Mohamed Ameer due to a string of poor results in the ongoing NBC Premier League.
Muya, who impressed last season while guiding Fountain Gate FC before parting ways with the club, had signed a one-year contract with the Tanga-based outfit.
Muya is well known for his ability to nurture young talent — most notably striker Seleman Mwalimu, whose impressive form under Muya’s guidance earned him a move to Wydad Casablanca of Morocco. During his time at Fountain Gate, Muya also helped his side finish the first round of the NBC Premier League among the top three.
