Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia scored a late goal to salvage 1-1 draw against Posta Rangers in a SportPesa league fixture at the Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday, March 5th, 2026.
Former Tusker FC midfielder Jackson Macharia gave Posta a surprise lead after just seven minutes of the kick off , and just when it looked like the Mailmen were on course to end their four-year wait for victory against K’Ogalo, Ghanaian Ebenezer Assifuah stepped up to rescue a crucial point for Gor Mahia with an 87th-minute strike.
Posta came into the match in a torrid run of form, which saw them not win any of their previous ten matches, including three consecutive losses in their last three encounters, which left them occupying the 13th spot.
However, the Kenyan giants could not find a winner and settled for a draw that took their points tally to 50 points, while Posta’s winless run extended to 11 games.
The draw leaves Gor Mahia with a seven-point buffer against arch-rivals AFC Leopards, albeit with a game in hand.
In the first leg of the 2025/26 season, Gor Mahia secured a dominant 3-0 win. Posta Rangers have not beaten Gor Mahia since January 2022, losing their last five consecutive meetings.
