The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) club champions Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars has suspended Uganda national football team captain Khalid Aucho for three months over alleged misconduct
Singida Black Stars released an official statement signed by the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Kassano, confirming the midfielder’s suspension. While the club cited indiscipline as the reason for the decision, it did not specify the exact offense or incidents that led to the action.
Aucho was not the only player sanctioned by the club. Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie was also handed a three month suspension after being accused of involvement in match fixing activities. The club’s statement indicated that the decisions were reached following internal procedures.
“The management, through the Disciplinary Committee, has taken these steps in accordance with the club’s rules and regulations,” part of the statement read.
The suspensions were announced just hours after Singida Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Namungo FC in a Mainland Premier League fixture played on Thursday at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, Lindi. The timing of the disciplinary measures has drawn attention, particularly as the team continues to search for consistency in the league.
However, in a statement posted on his official Instagram page, the experienced midfielder rejected the accusations, insisting he has maintained professionalism throughout his career.
“Since I started playing professional football, I have never been involved in any act of indiscipline,” Aucho (pictured) wrote. “I have always carried myself with professionalism in my entire career, representing every club with respect and discipline.”
The Ugandan international further emphasized that he understands the responsibilities that come with being a professional athlete.
“In all my years in football, I have never been involved in any incident of misconduct because I understand the duty and responsibility that comes with being a professional player,” he added.
Aucho also expressed gratitude to his supporters, urging them to remain patient and confident as the matter unfolds.
“To my beloved fans, who have always stood with me shoulder to shoulder, this situation will pass. Thank you for continuing to support me,” he said.
