The Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027 Qualifiers will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon, 19 May 2026 at 15h00 local time (12h00 GMT).
The ceremony will take place at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association in Cairo and will officially mark the beginning of the qualification journey to Africa’s biggest football tournament.
The expanded qualification campaign will feature 48 national teams, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
A total of 24 nations will qualify for the finals tournament, which is scheduled to run from 19 June to 17 July 2027 across the three East African nations.
The qualifying teams will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each during Tuesday’s draw. The top two teams from every group will qualify automatically for the finals. In groups featuring one of the three co-hosts, an additional team will also secure qualification.
CAF confirmed that the qualification campaign will be played across three FIFA international windows:
- Matchdays 1 and 2: 21 September to 6 October 2026
- Matchdays 3 and 4: 9 to 17 November 2026
- Matchdays 5 and 6: 22 to 30 March 2027
The opening match of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2027 tournament will be played on Saturday, 19 June 2027, with the final scheduled for Saturday, 17 July 2027.
The tournament will be the first-ever jointly hosted AFCON edition in East Africa and marks a historic milestone for the CECAFA region.
