Kenya’s national team Harambee Stars attacking midfielder and Gor Mahia co-captain Austin Odhiambo has completed a move to Lebanese giants Nejmeh SC.
Nejmeh SC confirmed the signing on their official Facebook page, posting: “We won’t talk much… The pitch ground will be the scale and decider. Welcome to Lighthouse Castle.” The statement signaled both confidence and expectation as the Kenyan playmaker steps onto a new continental stage.
At Nejmeh, Odhiambo joins familiar company, with fellow Kenyan internationals the 2017 Kenyan Premier League top scorer Masoud Juma then playing for Kariobangi Sharks and Teddy Akumu the first foreign signing of the Japanese J1 League club Sagan Tosu, already on the books.
The Lebanese Premier League outfit currently sits second in the 12-team league after 11 rounds, on 26 points, just behind leaders Al Ansar.
Nicknamed “Rolls Royce” for his smooth, elegant style, Odhiambo leaves Gor Mahia as one of the most influential players in the Kenyan Premier League.
His time with the record champions proved transformative, helping the club to league success and earning him the 2023/24 KPL Most Valuable Player award after a standout season of 12 goals and 13 assists, albeit Gor Mahia had a rough 2024/2025 season, missing out on silverware.
The midfielder’s, football journey began in Nairobi’s Baba Dogo area, passed through AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, and now extending into the Middle East.
On the international stage, Odhiambo etched his name into history, scoring Kenya’s first-ever goal at the CHAN 2024 tournament and emerging as one of the national team’s brightest attacking talents.
