A total of 68 match officials have arrived in Kenya, representing over 30 CAF Member Associations, as part of the preparations for the eagerly anticipated Total African Nations Championship (CHAN2024) tournament.
This dedicated team consists of 26 skilled referees, 26 experienced assistant referees, and 18 highly trained Video Match Officials (VMOs). They underwent rigorous pre-tournament training designed to ensure they are fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
Leading the Kenyan delegation is center referee Dickens Mimisa, who recently showcased his officiating talent at the AFCON U20 tournament held in Cairo, Egypt. His experience will be a valuable asset to the team during CHAN 2024.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has selected Kenya as its command center for the tournament. This means all referees and match officials participating in CHAN 2024 will operate from The Glee Hotel in Kenya. After each match assignment—whether it takes them to Uganda, Tanzania, or Zanzibar—officials are required to return to Kenya, ensuring a centralized and efficient management structure for the tournament.
