Tanzania giants Yanga are facing a tough situation after hearing that Khalid Aucho, their long-time defensive midfielder, won’t be renewing his contract for the upcoming league season. Aucho, who joined back in August 2021, has been a key player in the club’s recent success.
During his time with Yanga, they racked up four straight Premier League titles and really solidified their spot as the best team in the country. He’s not only made an impact in the domestic league but also helped lead the team to victory in the Federation Cup and their remarkable journey to the CAF Confederation Cup final last season, which put Yanga on the map.
But now, it seems things have hit a snag in the contract talks. The club offered him a one-year extension, but Aucho was looking for a two-year deal, which the management just wasn’t ready to give. A source close to the team mentioned that he’s received a tempting offer from a club in Israel and is likely to leave Tanzania soon, where he could reunite with former player Kennedy Musonda.

The club is being understanding about his decision, saying, “We respect Aucho’s choice. He told us about a great opportunity abroad, and we decided to let him go. It’s just part of football.”
In response to Aucho’s exit, Yanga has acted quickly and announced the signing of Guinean midfielder Balla Moussa Conté from a club in Tunisia. They’re expecting Conté to bring some much-needed strength and stability to the midfield as they gear up for a busy season ahead.
Plus, they’ve also brought in Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Doumbia, who used to play in the Czech Republic. He’s already in Tanzania and will join the team’s preseason training camp soon. Known for his creativity and playmaking skills, Doumbia is seen as a great addition to Yanga’s lineup.
The team is working hard to strengthen their squad while looking to keep up the momentum from their multiple trophy wins last season. They have high hopes for more success in the upcoming season, both locally and on the continental stage.
