The semi-final stage of the KSSSA National Soccer Games delivered high-stakes drama on Wednesday at the M-PESA Foundation Academy in Thika.
With strict qualification slots allocated for this month’s FEASSSA Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, only the two grand finalists from each gender category have booked their spots as Kenya’s regional envoys.
In the boys’ division, St. Mary’s School, Yala controlled their fixture from start to finish, sweeping aside Takaba Day Mixed with a crisp 2–0 victory. The Nyanza champions sealed both their place in the national final and their ticket to East Africa.
They will be joined by 12-time national champions Kakamega High School (“Green Commandos”), who ground out a hard-fought 2–1 win over Menengai High School. Kakamega’s composure under pressure ensured their long-awaited return to the international stage.
The girls’ semi-finals opened with a tactical battle between St. Joseph’s Girls, Kitale and former champions Archbishop Njenga Girls.
A lone strike proved decisive as St. Joseph’s secured a 1–0 victory to confirm their journey to Morogoro.
In the second semi-final, Nyakach Girls put on an absolute masterclass, overwhelming Raila Educational Centre in a 4–0 triumph.
Nyakach’s explosive attack leaves them as formidable contenders heading into Thursday’s championship decider.
