The Kenyan Women’s national team, Harambee Starlets will be chasing their first ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) win when they take on Senegal in a Group A match today, Thursday 30 July at the Stade Prince Moulay Stadium in Rabat from 2000 hrs.
After a decade out of the continental tournament, Kenya marked their return with a humiliating 4-0 defeat to hosts Morocco on Sunday, 26 July.
Senegal equally suffered defeat in their opening match, falling 2-0 to Algeria in what was the first match of the tournament.
Harambee Starlets now have a mountain to climb if they are to achieve their ambitions of reaching the semi finals, and subsequently qualifying for the 2027 World Cup.
With both Morocco and Algeria winning their matches, Kenya cannot afford to drop further points in the tournament if they are to make it to the last four.
“We all understand that it is do or die for us against Senegal where we are expecting everyone of us to give our best. We keep working hard to ensure that we can stay longer in Morocco.
I have watched their matches and I believe their physical aspect is the most special thing about them. They run, they are well built and use that as their advantage,” said Harambee Starlets Coach Beldine Odemba.
