Kenya’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) received another boost after Nicholas Musonye chaired a Pamoja Local Organising Committee (LOC) meeting at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The high-level meeting brought together key stakeholders from the **Football Kenya Federation> (FKF), the Ministry of Sports, and various government sports departments to assess progress and strengthen strategies aimed at ensuring Kenya is fully prepared to co-host the 2027 AFCON alongside Uganda and Tanzania under the PAMOJA bid.
Musonye described the meeting as productive, emphasizing the shared commitment among all stakeholders to deliver a tournament that meets international standards.
“Today, I had the honour of chairing the Pamoja LOC Committee meeting at Kasarani Stadium, bringing together key stakeholders from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the Ministry of Sports, and various sports departments to strategise and strengthen preparations for the successful hosting of the 2027 AFCON tournament.”
The meeting was attended by Elijah Mwangi, whose leadership and continued support were praised as instrumental in driving Kenya’s AFCON preparations.
Musonye noted that the committee remains focused on delivering a world-class championship that will not only showcase Kenya’s ability to host Africa’s biggest football tournament but also strengthen regional cooperation and create a lasting legacy for sports development.
President Ruto Commended for Infrastructure Investments
The LOC Steering Committee also applauded William Samoei Ruto for his continued commitment to transforming Kenya’s sports infrastructure ahead of the tournament.
According to the committee, the government’s significant investments in the construction and renovation of stadiums, training venues, and supporting infrastructure are laying a solid foundation for a successful AFCON.
The committee believes these developments will extend far beyond the tournament by boosting sports development, creating employment opportunities, stimulating economic growth, and positioning Kenya as a leading destination for major international sporting events.
