The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) have officially launched an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the global commercial rights to the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the 2028, 2032 and 2036 editions.
The tender covers the sale and management of worldwide media, broadcast, sponsorship and other commercial rights for Africa’s flagship football competition, with CAF seeking an innovative commercial partner capable of driving long-term growth and increasing the tournament’s global footprint.
Interested companies have until Monday, August 24, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Cairo time (2:00 p.m. GMT) to submit their bids.
AFCON’s Global Growth
CAF described the Africa Cup of Nations as the continent’s biggest sporting event and one of the fastest-growing football competitions worldwide.
According to CAF, the 2025 AFCON hosted in Morocco attracted more than 3.2 billion television viewers and generated over six billion digital views, making it the third-largest international national team football tournament globally, behind only the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.
The governing body also revealed that the Morocco tournament recorded a 95 percent increase in commercial revenues, highlighting growing confidence from sponsors, broadcasters and commercial partners in African football.
CAF Seeks Long-Term Commercial Partner
Through the tender, CAF intends to appoint a strategic commercial partner that will work closely with the federation to maximize the value of AFCON’s media and sponsorship rights while creating new revenue opportunities.
The successful bidder will be tasked with developing a world-class commercial strategy for the sale and distribution of broadcasting rights, sponsorship packages and marketing assets, helping expand AFCON’s global audience and ensuring sustainable financial growth for African football.
Revenue generated from the sale of these commercial rights plays a vital role in funding CAF competitions and supporting football development programmes across Africa.
