Naibois Take on Posta Rangers in Mozzart Bet Cup

Fresh from the glitz and glamour of the SOYA Awards where they won the Sports Team of the Year 2025 men category, Nairobi United shift focus back to the pitch as they are set to take on Posta Rangers in the last sixteen round of the Mozzart Bet Cup, at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani tommorow Sunday, kick off at 3:30 P.M.

The match is set to determine whether the Naibois’ fairy tale that saw them make history by clinching the cup in their debut season while playing in the National Super League, representing the country at the continental stage, and qualifying to the group stages of the Caf Confederations cup continues as they seek to defend their crown.

The match promises to be a tough encounter for the city boys considering the last Sportpesa League match between the two sides.

The fixture played in early December 2025, saw Posta Rangers emerge 2_0 winners courtesy of a long range strike by Jackson Dwang in the 8th minute before Brian Otieno sealed the victory in the 33rd minute.

The Naibois come into the match after dismantling non_league side BMC Allstars 8_0 in the previous round of the tournament, while Posta Rangers booked a ticket after securing a 2_0 victory against Oinopsos F.C.

Speaking ahead of the match, Nairobi United head coach Godfrey Oduor expressed confidence.

“To defend the crown, we must protect what is ours with every move we make. We have been building momentum step by step, and while our recent results show we are prepared, the Mozzart Bet Cup requires a higher level of discipline. We need to finish what we started and continue our road back to the continental stage.”

Nairobi United captain John Otieno expressed optimism in leading the team to the next round and making history once again.

“Leading this team as defending champions is a massive responsibility, but the belief within the squad is our greatest motivation. While the win against Shabana and the draw against Homeboyz proved we are ready, the Mozzart Bet Cup is a different beast entirely. We need focus, hunger, and above all the energy of our fans at Kasarani this Sunday.”
