Rwanda registered a commanding 4–0 victory over Grenada in the 2026 FIFA Series international friendly tournament at the packed Amahoro Stadium on Friday, March 27th, 2026.
Leroy Jacques, featuring for Amavubi for the first time after switching allegiance from Germany, opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time (45 2).
Jacques who plays for for Azerbaijani Premier league club Zira curled in a superb finish after receiving the ball from Jojea Kwizera on the right wing, to break the deadlock.
Three minutes later, Kwizera doubled Rwanda’s lead after combining with Abeddy Biramahire in a one-two move, giving the hosts a comfortable 2–0 advantage heading into halftime.
Captain Djihad Bizimana who features for two times Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 champions CS Constantine extended the lead with a long-range shot to make it 3–0.
Three times Greece Super League champions AEK Athens midfielder Hakim Sahabo, making a return to the national team after a two year absence, came off the bench to score the fourth goal to seal Rwanda’s victory attended by thousands of fans including President Paul Kagame.
The final will now pit the hosts against Estonia who beat Kenya on penalty shootouts in an earlier Group B match. The pair had played out a 1-1 draw.
The result marks an impressive outing for head coach Stephen Constantine, who recently returned to the team after an 11-year hiatus.
