CECAFA Champs Singida Black Stars Shine in Mbeya City as Yanga, Azam Draw

Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) club champions Singida Black Stars trounced Mbeya City  4-1  in a Mainland Premier League clash at Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium in Manyara on Sunday.

The win lifts Singida Black Stars to sixth place on the league table with 22 points from 14 games, while Mbeya City remain 14th with 13 points from 16 matches.

Mbeya City took the lead through Vitalis Mayanga in the 14th minute, heading in a precise cross from teammate Baraka Philemon.

Singida Black Stars responded strongly, earning a penalty in the 30th minute after Mossi Nduwumwe was fouled in the box by Mbeya City defender Adilly Buha.

Emanuel Keyekeh calmly converted the spot-kick to level the scores, and the first half ended 1-1.

The second half belonged entirely to Singida Black Stars. Nduwumwe put them ahead with a low strike to the left flank following an assist from Lamine Jarjou. Ibrahim Imoro then sealed the win with a brace.

His first, in the 74th minute, was a long-range effort that beat goalkeeper Beno Kakolanya and he doubled his tally shortly after with another precise strike from just outside the box.

NBC Tanzania Premier League leaders Young Africans and Azam FC maintained their unbeaten runs after fighting to barren draw at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar on Sunday, March 15th, 2026.

The fixture has historically been tightly contested. In the last 12 league meetings, Yanga have won six times, Azam four, and two games ended in draws. Tommorow’s encounter, with both teams still unbeaten, underlines the quality, consistency, and determination of these two sides.

Yanga currently top the table with 36 points. as Azam, meanwhile, sit on 27 points
