NAIROBI UNITED STORM INTO THE LAST SIXTEEN OF THE MOZZART CUP

The Naibois dismantled non league side BMC Allstars 8_0 in a one sided encounter played at Ulinzi Sports complex, signaling a clear intent to defend the cup they won last season in dramatic style to book a place in the Caf Confederations Cup.

The Naibois came into the encounter with a strong line up making only four changes to the team that had drawn 1_1 against KCB in their last league encounter. Kevin Oduor came in goal for the suspended Jairo Benard, Yusuf Mainge started at the back in place of David Wafula, while Brian Magare and Charles Waibi replaced the injured Brian Omondi Mzee and Gideon Otieno respectively in the starting line up.

The match started slowly before coming to life in the 20th minute. The Naibois were awarded a penalty after a BMC Allstar defender handled the ball in the box, up stepped Benson Omalla who calmly converted from the spot opening the floogates for a masterclass in goal scoring.

The striker who is in a rich vain of form added the second in the 35th minute heading the ball in the back of the net following a brilliant delivery from Mustapha Kizza. The attacker has now scored five goals in a row in his last three appearances for the club in all competitions.

At the beginning of the second half, coach Geoffrey Oduor made a quadruple substitution bringing on Shami Mwinyi , Ashraf Thaire, Kevin Otiende and Duncan Omalla in place of Benson Omalla, Charles Waibi, Mustapha Kizza and Enock Machaka respectively, altering the momentum of the game.

Brian Magare scored the third goal in the 58th minute heading the ball from a corner kick before adding the fourth goal in the 67th minute to complete a quick brace. Ashraf Thaire pilled on the misery for the Donholm side scoring the fifth goal in the 70th minute before Shami Mwinyi added the sixth goal in the 75th minute after a neat one two with Ashraf Thaire.

Duncan Omalla then added the seventh goal in the 77th minute before Ashraf completed the rout in the 94th minute to bring an end to the one sided encounter. The Naibois now await the draw for the last sixteen round to know their next opponent as they aim to defend their crown.
