APR Capture Gorilla as Police Drop Rwanda Premier League Points

Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC came from behind to beat Gorilla FC 2-1 at Kigali Pele Stadium to level on points with leaders Al Hilal on the standings at Kigali Pelé Stadium.

Gorilla drew first blood through Khalifa Traore for a 1-0 lead at the break again in stoppage time, netting the winner in the 90 4th minute

After the break, APR striker William Togui equalised just a minute into the second before netting the winner in the 90 4th minute for the defending to bag maximum points.

The win lifts APR to 42 points, level with Al Hilal, who have played three fewer matches and remain top on goal difference.

Gorilla stay 14th with 22 points.

Muhanga 1 Police 1

The 2015 Rwanda Cup champions Police FC dropped  points in the title race after being held to a 1–1 draw by AS Muhanga in a Premier league match replayed at Muhanga Stadium.

The fixture had initially been abandoned on Saturday due to waterlogged pitch. Before the interruption, Muhanga were leading 1–0 courtesy of a goal scored by Martin Fabrice Twizerimana in the 16th minute.

The two times premier league runners up salvaged a point when Jean De Dieu Udahemuka found the equaliser in the 58th minute .

The result means coach Ben Moussa’s side has now gone five matches without a win. Police FC remain fourth on the table with 37 points, level with Rayon Sports in fifth place but ahead on goal difference while AS Muhanga, stay second from bottom with 16 points perched in the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Two times Rwanda Super Cup champions AS Kigali were held to a 0-0 draw by the 1988 Rwanda Cup winners at Kigali Pelé Stadium, while Bugesera FC and Amagaju FC also shared the spoils in another goalless draw.

The Nyamagabe-based side Amagaju remain rooted to the bottom of the standings with 15 points.

Meanwhile, three times Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations club champions Al Merrikh were held to a 1-2 stalemate by Gasogi United.

Nicolas Rijaniaina opened the scores to give Al Merrikh the lead in the 20th minute, before Ebenezeri Niyigena equalised for Gasogi in the 60th for a share of the spoils.

The result leaves Al Merrikh third with 41 points, while Gasogi United remain 10th on 25 points.
