Ghanian Connection Connects Gor Mahia’s Win Against Mathare United

A Ghanaian connection secured record national champions Gor Mahia a 2-1 win against Mathare United and open up a nine-point lead at the summit of the SportPesa League log over arch-rivals AFC Leopards at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 evening.

The Ghanaian duo of Ebenezer Assifuah and Morrison were on target for K’Ogalo to pip the 2008 Kenyan Premier League champions in a  win that pushed them to 49 points, nine clear of Leopards and Shabana, who are the chasing pack.

After playing to a goalless draw in the first half,  Ebenezer Assifuah came off the bench to break the deadlock by netting the opener before Dennis Okoth equalised in the 83rd minute.

Assifuah was later brought down in the box by Mathare Goalkeeper Kevin Ouru, with compatriot Enock Morrison stepping up to convert the penalty in stoppage time and seal all three points for K’Ogalo.
