Kenya U20 midfielder Zech Obiero nets on Home Debut for Tranmere Rovers in English Football League

Kenya U20 midfielder Zech Obiero scored on his home debut for Tranmere Rovers in a 2-0 victory over Crawley Town in an English Football League Two Prenton Park on Saturday, February 14th, 2026.

The young Kenyan, who is currently on loan from Leyton Orient in search of regular game time, announced himself in style at Prenton Park with a confident display capped by a well-taken goal.

Obiero came close to opening the scoring when his initial effort was saved by the Crawley goalkeeper. early in the game in the sixth minute.

Six minutes later, the Kenyan midfielder broke into the box  showed composure beyond his years, rifling the ball into the roof of the net to hand Tranmere the lead for his first goal for the club

Tranmere doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time. Charlie Whitaker was brought down inside the area, and striker Joe Ironside calmly converted the resulting penalty, placing the ball into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0.

In the second half,  Obiero remained lively before being substituted later in the contest, receiving warm applause from the 5,739 supporters in attendance, including 181 travelling fans.

The result strengthens Tranmere’s position in English Football League Two in England.
