Uganda Held by Zambia in FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers

Uganda and Zambia played to a1-1 draw on Saturday in the first leg of the third qualification round to the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on Saturday, February 7th, 2026.

Uganda’s skipper Agnes Nabukenya drew first blood for the hosts in the first half but the Young Copper Queens rallied back with an equaliser through Edith Phiri midway through the second half.

Nabukenya broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute with her powerful strike just outside after connecting a cross Martha Babirye in the box who teed up to her to powerfully curl home.

The two teams will battle in the return leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Zambia with the winner on aggregate progressing to the fourth round to meet the winner between Ghana or South Africa awaits.
