Kenyan Premier League Clubs Make a Flying Start in FKF Cup

Kenyan Premier League sides in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF)  Mozzart Bet Cup action on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 booked their places in the round of 32, unlike in the previous editions where at least one heavyweight bowed out early

Action kicked off in Nakuru, where on-loan record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia striker Veron Ombima struck twice for Posta Rangers to advance.

Ombima goals, Kevin Juma scoring inside the opening 15 seconds, and Brian Ouma Bunge netting to complete the rout Posta Rangers to advance comfortably after dispatching Chemogoch FC 4-0 at Afraha Stadium.

Premier league leaders and last year’s runners up, Gor Mahia kept alive their quest for a domestic cup double this season, by eliminating Dero FC 2-0 in a  round of 64 encounter at Mamboleo Stadium, Kisumu.

Goals in either half from Samuel Kapen and Levin Odhiambo proved decisive as K’Ogalo cruised to a comfortable victory.

Eyeing a second Mozzart Bet Cup crown after their last triumph in 2023, Kakamega Homeboyz kicked off their 2026 campaign with a 5-1 commanding victory over Amani Youth.

Despite calls to postpone the fixture, Homeboyz opted to honour passing of their centre-back Silas Abungana on Wednesday night  on the pitch, responding with a performance marked by ruthlessness.

A brace by Oliver Majaka and a goal each scored by captain Moses Mudavadi,  Ugandan left-back Shafik Batambuze,  Peter Thiong’o earned Homeboyx the emphatic win.

Amani Youth managed a late consolation ten minutes from time through Wycliffe Onyango, who converted  from the spot despite goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala guessing correctly.

A lone goal by Kenya’s international Aboud Omar ensured the reigning SportPesa League champions Kenya Police beat Embakasi United 1-0 at Police Sacco Stadium.

FKF Premier League side and 2025 cup semi finalist, Murang’a Seal cruised into the round of 32 with a ruthless 9-1 demolition of fourth-tier newcomers Kahawa Pride at Police Sacco.

The Osborne Monday coached side scored through a Victor Haki hat-trick, Michael Macharia brace, ‘Choir Master’ Lucas Maina, captain John Kiplangat, Joe Waithera and Yusuf Ali.

The 2018 champions Kariobangi Sharks launch their cup campaign in emphatic fashion with the William Muluya-coached side trouncing FKF Regional League outfit Pwani Oil FC 7-0 at Mbaraki Sports Complex in Mombasa.

Izzadin Juma and in-form Humphrey Aroko grabbed a brace each, while Victor Ngume, Ally Salum and Eusters Chasara added a goal apiece.

Ulinzi Stars also booked their place in the next round after edging out Kamel Park Rangers 1-0 at Gusii Stadium.

Bonface Muchiri converted from a free kick  for the all important goal to seal the win for the Soldiers’ in the 30th minute.

In Limuru,  it marked a winning start for head coach Nichodemus Omasete in his first match in charge as National Super League (NSL) side 3K FC ran riot against non-league Limuru FC, hammering them 8-0 at Murigiti Primary School Grounds.

At Nyumba Sita Grounds, Zetech Titans continued their impressive cup tradition after seeing off Rwafa FC 2-0.

Rwafa held firm in the first half to force a goalless break, but a tactical shift and visible fatigue after the restart allowed Michael Okoth to strike twice in quick succession and seal a round-of-32 berth for the varsity boys.

National Super League s(NSL) side Kibera Black Stars’ maiden appearance in the Mozzart Bet Cup ended in heartbreak at Mkapa Grounds in Kitui.

The newcomers were eliminated on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw with Division One side Dynamo FC.

Wellington Ochieng and Bockins Adeya were on target for Ya Mama, but Dynamo edged the shootout 4-3 to advance.

At Longonot Horticultural Grounds, Naivasha SYFA bowed out after a 2-1 defeat to Division One side Mfalme FC, with Felix Ochieng netting a brace to steer his side through.

Former Kenyan Premier League side, Zoo FC joined the growing list of big winners after overpowering Eldoret-based Bondeni FC 5-0 at Kericho Green Stadium.

Goals from Sammy Ggolola, Dennis Ongeri, Mathew ‘Tayo’ Odongo, Edwin Namasaka and Kipngenoh Owen powered Zoo’s  qualification.

At Kombani Grounds on the Coast, Denmark progressed with a 5-2 win over debutants Magadi All Stars.
