Nzahou’s Brace Dims Singida Black Stars CAF Confederation Cup Qualification

Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) club champions Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars chances of qualifying from the CAF Confederation Cup were dimmed after succumbing to a 2–1 defeat away to Congo’s AS Otoho at Stade Alphonse Massamba Débat, Brazzaville on Sunday, February 1st, 2026.

That setback that leaves them bottom of the group with four points, level with Stellenbosch. CR Belouizdad lead the section with nine points, while Otoho sit second on six.

Exaucé Nzahou signed from Algerian  Ligue 1 side Union Sportive de Biskra in November last year scored a second half brace in the 51st and 79th minutes

Ivorian striker Joseph Gnadou who made a comeback to Singida after a brief spell with Jordanian Pro League club Al-Wehdat scored the Tanzanian outfit’s consolation goal in the 88th minute.

Despite the blow, Singida head coach Othman Najjar refused to abandon hope of a historic quarter-final berth.

“It is true our situation is difficult,” Najjar admitted, “but we still have two matches to play—one at home and one away. If we get positive results, we can move forward,” said Najjar.

Singida next host group leaders CR Belouizdad at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar on Sunday before concluding their campaign away to Stellenbosch on February 15, with their continental fate finely balanced.
