The Stanbic Uganda Cup champions Vipers SC will start their title defence away against a third division league side Northern Gateway FC from Lira.
Last year’s runners up and joint record cup winners Kampala City Authority (KCCA) Football Club have been pitted against St. George Masindi FC, a Kitara regional league team.
Nine times Uganda Cup champions Sports Club (SC) Villa will travel far East to face Pallisa Hospital FC, a team that plays in the fifth division in Pallisa district while three times winners Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) battle Patongo United FC a third division league club located at Patongo Town council in Agago District.
The 2006 Confederation of East and Central Football Associations (CECAFA) club champions Police FC takes third division team Mairye United FC while two times Uganda Cup champions Uganda Peoples’ Defence Force Football Club (UPDF FC) play regional league side SC Nsambya while the 2006
The round of 64 games will be played between 4th -10th February. It should be noted that at this stage, games are played on a one-leg basis and in case of draw after normal time, a penalty shootout determines the winner.
The winner will earn Uganda shillings 50 million, the first runners up will walk away with Sh25 million while the third and fourth placed teams will each pocket Sh12.5 million. The organisers have set aside Sh150 million kitty to be shared by teams advancing to the round of 32.
This is Uganda’s second most prestigious football competition, where the winner earns the right to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
