Nairobi United, Azam in CAF Confederation Cup Do or Die East African Derby

Nairobi United will be seeking to bounce back and exact revenge in the CAF Confederation Cup 25/26 when they visit Tanzania’s Azam FC on Sunday evening in the second leg at the Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, with kickoff set for 1900 hrs.

The clash is a do-or-die affair for the reigning Mozzart Bet Cup champions, who must win to keep their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals alive.

The Kenyan history-makers will aim to reset their course, hoping to avenge the loss to Azam on the road and also triumph in the return legs against Wydad and AS Maniema.

With both teams having plenty to play for, they will leave it all on the pitch to keep their progression hopes alive.

For NaiBois, securing an away win is especially crucial another defeat would further diminish their chances of advancing.

But Azam are a formidable opponent, and United will have to dig deep against the Tanzanian Premier League giants, who are targeting nothing less than a victory – their second in Group B to keep their own knockout stage ambitions alive.

Nairobi United head coach Salim Ali is well aware of the challenge and remains confident his side can deliver a strong performance.

“We are prepared for the match and will do our best to secure a win. We have nothing to lose, and therefore we will work hard to get the three points if we are to remain in this competition,” said Ali.

For Azam FC head coach Florent Ibenge, victory against the Naibois is vital in the quest to reach the last four.

“Getting the three points remains our top objective. In our calculations, we intend to win all our remaining home matches and fight to get at least a point from our away fixtures,” the Congolese tactician explained.
