Young Africans staged a comeback to beat Dodoma Jiji FC 3-1 at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam, to propel the defending champions to the top of the Mainland Tanzania Premier League on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026.
The defending champions overturned a 1-0 deficit in the first half to stage a comeback to win the match and collect maximum points that moved them to the top of the league wit 22 points.
Dodoma Jiji drew first blood three minutes before halftime through Edgar Williams after capitalising on Yanga’s defensive lapse.
The goal stemmed from a costly mistake in Yanga’s build-up play, as Pacôme Zouzoua’s misplaced pass was intercepted, for a counter attack by the visitors for Nelson Munganga to pass a through ball that caught defenders Ibrahim “Bacca” Hamad and Frank Assinki napping, allowing Williams to finish calmly past goalkeeper Djigui Diarra for the opening goal.
Striker Depu converted from the spot six minutes into first-half stoppage time to level the scores from a penalty awarded after Dodoma defender Andy Bikoko fouled Maxi Nzengeli in the box.
Depu put Yanga in the lead by netting his second goal of the match and his third goal in just two league appearances, after connecting Duke Abuya’s pass in the 61st minute.
Prince Dube put the score beyond doubt in the 67th minute by capitalising a defensive blunder for his fourth goal of the current league campaign.
