Kenya’s top flight league football champions Kenya Police FC unbeaten run came to an end after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Bandari in a SportPesa League clash staged on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026 at Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa.
Bandari extended their fine run under coach Bernard Mwalala after winger Darius Msagha found the back of the net to settle the contest in the 72nd minute at the coastal based sun-baked facility.
Since making his return to the Dockers three weeks ago, Bandari have been on a roll, winning three matches and sharing points once, a run that has seen the coastal side rise to the top half of the log.
Before the fixture, both coaches were unbeaten since taking charge at their respective clubs. Bandari head coach Bernard Mwalala, who had initially been expected to join Kenya Police as an assistant before opting for the Mombasa role, had overseen three matches and recorded two wins and a draw.
Police, on the other hand, arrived at the clash on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Mara Sugar, an outcome that saw their new head coach Nicholas Muyoti end the search for his maiden win at the club.
Interestingly, both Muyoti and Mwalala worked together at Kakamega Homeboyz before the former moved to Nairobi City Stars in September 2021.
Having gathered maximum points, the 2019 cup winners will hope to extend their good run when they face AFC Leopards in their next game.while, Police will seek to redeem themselves in their subsequent clash against Ulinzi Stars.
Bandari FC hosted Kenya Police FC in a rescheduled league fixture. The match was originally scheduled early in the season but was postponed due to Kenya Police’s participation in the CAF Champions League. It was finally be played on Wednesday, with both sides now under new coaches.
The reigning league champions held the upper hand in the head-to-head record, having won four of the eight league meetings since their promotion in 2021.
