Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) club champions Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars edged out Congo’s AS Otoho d’Oyo 1-0 to post their first win in the CAF Confederation Cup at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Singida’s all important goal was netted by Kenya’s ex-international striker and top scorer of the 2022–23 Kenyan Premier League Elvis Rupia from close range after a failed clearance from Otoho’s defense to strengthen their position in the group and moving closer to qualification.
The club from Mtipa are now second in the table with four points. Otoho d’Oyo slipped into third place ahead of Algeria’s CR Belouizdad’s match against leaders South African side Stellenbosch on matchday three.
The Tanzanian big spenders are making their CAF Confederation Cup debut since their formation in 2016.
