AFC Leopards managed to halt their ten-match winless run against Sofapaka as they narrowly defeated them 1-0 on Sunday at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in the second leg of the SportPesa league.
It was Kayci Odhiambo who struck the decisive goal in the second half, ending Ingwe’s long drought against Batoto Ba Mungu, which had produced eight draws and two defeats.
Ingwe, who had 24 hours earlier seen their arch-rivals Gor Mahia produce a late comeback to move three points clear at the top, needed an early second-half goal from their skipper to keep things tight between the two contenders.
The vital victory also earned Fred Ambani side three crucial points, lifting them back to joint top of the title race on 36 points alongside arch-rivals Gor Mahia.
The goal was scored a minute after the restart, after AFC Leopards won a corner where Samuel Semo delivered a curling ball to the far post, where Ssenyonjo nodded it into the penalty area.
The ball deflected to Kayci Odhiambo, who made no mistake, slotting home to give his side a deserved lead early in the second period.
The team dedicated the goal to James Ssetuba, who recently lost his mother.

Ulinzi v Murang’a Seal (match abandoned)
The match between Murang’a Seal and four times champions Ulinzi Stars was abandoned after the hosts protested a stoppage time goal from Joe Waithira with the scores at 2-1 in favor of the visitors at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Before that, Ulinzi had taken an early lead through Paul Okoth, before Seal equalized via a Waithira penalty in the 34th minute.
Hell broke loose at the end of the game however, when Waithira scored what had been deemed as the winner, only for a standoff to ensue after Ulinzi argued that the goal had emanated from a handball.
