Vihiga United Snap Up Cameroonian Star, Ugandan Winger in Relegation Rescue Mission

Football Kenya Federation National Super League (FKF NSL) side, Vihiga United have sent a clear message of intent in their battle against the drop, finalizing the high-profile signings of Cameroonian prodigy Kameni Ngounou Miguel and Ugandan attacker Allan Kiggundu.

Currently languishing in the NSL relegation zone (19th place), the former top-flight side is pulling out all the stops to preserve their status in Kenya’s second tier. The arrival of the two international talents is expected to inject much-needed clinical edge and experience into a squad that has struggled for consistency this season.

The headline act is 21-year-old Kameni Ngounou Miguel, a rising star from the renowned AS Fortuna Academy in Cameroon. Known for its ability to produce technically gifted players, the academy’s latest export is eager to make her mark in East African football.

Speaking to soccereastafrica.com on his arrival in Kenya, Kameni described the move as a pivotal step in his career. “Joining Vihiga United is a massive challenge to me, but it’s exactly the kind of test I thrive on. I want our fans to know that we are ready to fight. My teammates and I are fully committed to this mission; we are going to leave everything on the pitch to ensure this club secures its status and stays where it belongs.”

Joining Kameni in the new-look Vihiga attack is Allan Kiggundu. The 21-year-old Ugandan winger brings a unique CV to the side, having previously featured for Filipino outfit Mendiola FC before a stint with Calvary FC in the Uganda Premier League.

Kiggundu’s ability to stretch defenses and his previous experience in different footballing cultures make him a vital asset for Vihiga’s tactical setup as the side navigates a grueling second half of the season.

With only 15 points from 17 matches, Vihiga United sits just above the rock-bottom Mwatate United. The club’s management has identified the “spine” of the team as a priority, and the addition of Miguel and Kiggundu is seen as the first phase of a broader “Relegation Rescue Mission.”

The two are expected to be available for selection immediately as Vihiga seeks to bridge the 6-point gap required to move into the safety of the mid-table positions.
