Africa Cup of Nations Champions Ivory Coast held by Cameroon

Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire and ex-winners Cameroon fought to a pulsating 1–1 draw in their second Group F fixture at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Morocco 2025.

Junior Tchamadeu’s deflected effort midway through the second half cancelled out a moment of brilliance from English Premier League (EPL) side Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo, whose stunning opener had put the Ivorians ahead.

Amad, who scored the only goal in his country’s opening win over Mozambique, collected Ghislain Konan’s crossfield pass on a counter-attack from the edge of the box, finding the far corner of Devis Epassy’s net to break the deadlock in the 51st minute.

Tchamadeu struck a deflected equaliser less than six minutes after Amad had curled the Elephants in front as part of a result which ensures both sides remain a point clear of Mozambique at the top of Group F and also eliminates Gabon.

Cameroon travel back to Agadir to face Mozambique, while the defending champions remain in Marrakesh to take on already eliminated Gabon.
