In a strategic move aimed at enhancing their home advantage, Tanzania’s Young African Sports Club (Yanga SC) have officially announced that they will host their CAF Champions League home matches at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar. This decision was revealed by the club’s communication manager, Ally Kamwe, during a press conference earlier today.
Kamwe emphasized that the management team conducted a thorough assessment of the club’s needs and the interests of its fans before making this pivotal decision.
“After the management has made an assessment and looked at the wider interests of our Club, I would like to announce that for all our three home matches in the Group Stage, we will use the New Amaan Complex, Zanzibar,” he stated.
The announcement comes ahead of Yanga SC’s highly anticipated first home game against Moroccan side FAR Rabat. In a heartfelt call to action, Kamwe urged fans and members from the islands of Pemba and Unguja to prepare for the team’s arrival and to rally in support ahead of the crucial fixture.
“I would like to ask our fans and Members from the islands of Pemba and Unguja to prepare to receive the team and make strong preparations towards the first home game against FAR RABAT,” Kamwe added.
Yanga have been placed in a challenging Group B of the CAF Champions League alongside the record 12-time winners Al Ahly. This group also features Morocco’s champions AS FAR and the two-time African champions JS Kabylie, setting the stage for a competitive environment steeped in history and rivalry.
He didn’t shy away from acknowledging the challenges ahead, noting that Yanga SC has been placed in a particularly difficult group within the tournament. However, he expressed confidence in the club’s ability to forge ahead, united by the support of their fans.
“Other members from the regions should also prepare themselves; we are in a difficult group but as one, if we continue to work together in our unity, we will overcome it,” he concluded.
Yanga SC’s decision to host their matches in Zanzibar highlights the club’s commitment to providing an electrifying atmosphere for their supporters while also aiming to enhance their performance in one of Africa’s most prestigious football competitions.
Fans are eagerly anticipating what this season holds for the team as they embark on this new chapter in their CAF Champions League journey.
