In a significant move for the struggling Kenya’s FKF Premier League champions, Kenya Police FC has appointed Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic as the new head coach. The announcement was made on Sunday night, following the departure of Burundian Etienne Ndiyaragijje, who left the club after an 11-month tenure.
Stojanovic takes the helm at a challenging moment, with the team currently positioned 17th in the 18-team league, mirroring the plight of his predecessor when he took over last November.
Stojanovic arrives with a commendable track record, having led Uganda’s SC Villa to their first league title in two decades during the recent 2023–24 season. He is now tasked with fostering a similar resurgence in Kenya, a challenge that will require immediate results, especially as the team has four games in hand to reverse its fortunes.

During the unveiling event, Chairman Gideon Nyale Munga expressed his confidence in the new coach, highlighting Stojanovic’s extensive experience gained across South Africa, North Africa, and East Africa.
Nyale, who also serves as a Senior Assistant Inspector General of the National Police Service, reassured Stojanovic of the club’s unwavering support. “Coach Dusan has a wealth of experience. We believe that with his exposure, Police FC will reach greater heights,” Munga remarked, extending a warm welcome to the Serbian, while encouraging him to embrace the friendly Kenyan culture.
Stojanovic, who watched the team’s recent goalless draw against Posta Rangers from the stands, acknowledged the players’ efforts despite the disappointing result. He expressed his commitment to transforming the team’s fortunes through hard work and a fighting spirit. “What we can promise is hard work, persistence, and a fighting spirit. For now, everything is perfect except the result,” Stojanovic stated optimistically.

The Serbian’s managerial debut will take place this Wednesday, where he will lead Kenya Police FC against Sofapaka FC in a rescheduled league match at the Police Sacco Grounds. With hopes high and expectations set, the football fraternity will be watching closely to see if Stojanovic can steer the team towards a successful turnaround.
