Kampala, Uganda: Thirteen-time league champions, Kampala Capital City Authority FC (KCCA FC), have officially unveiled their squad and technical staff for the 2025/26 season. The event marks a pivotal moment as the club gears up to compete and defend its illustrious reputation in Ugandan football.
Central to this announcement is the appointment of goalkeeper Charles Lukwago as the new captain. Lukwago takes over the captaincy from Julius Poloto, who has departed after more than a decade with the club.
This leadership change signifies a new chapter for the team, with Lukwago being a critical part of KCCA’s successes over the years. He played a significant role in the club’s triumphs, including the league titles in 2017 and 2019, and was instrumental in securing the Uganda Cup in 2017 and 2018. His leadership also guided KCCA to a celebrated victory in the Cecafa Kagame Cup in Kigali in 2019.

Lukwago’s leadership will be supported by Fillbert Obenchan, Herbert Achayi, and Derrick Paul Nsibambi, who have been appointed as his assistants. The technical staff was also revealed, showcasing a strong mix of experience and youth, with Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera Kaddu serving as the co-head coaches.
Complementing the coaching team, Saka Mpiima will lead the junior team, while Felix Ayobo will oversee fitness, conditioning, and strengthening. The goalkeeper’s department is well-covered with Moses Oloya and Yasin Mugabi on board as goalkeeper coaches.
The squad features a mix of seasoned players and promising young talents, emphasizing KCCA’s commitment to nurturing local talent. Each player was assigned a shirt number, with notable mentions such as alumnus Ivan Ahimbisibwe and fresh-faced James Oyirwoth, who is part of the academy setup. Among the squad is also a strong contingent of youth players, underlining the club’s vision for a sustainable future by integrating youth into the first team.
