Simba SC’s head coach, Fadlu Davids, has expressed his confidence in the strength of the squad as they gear up for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. Following a season focused on building a solid foundation, Davids is optimistic that his team is now equipped to excel both in domestic leagues and on the continental stage.
In a recent statement, Davids highlighted the progress made over the last season, emphasizing the importance of continuity and player development. “Last season was about building the foundation of the squad, but now we have a strong team that can compete at high levels,” he stated.
The coach acknowledged the need for long-term planning, explaining that to elevate Simba SC to the status of African powerhouses like Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, it would take several transfer windows to achieve the desired caliber of the squad.
“This year, we expect to have a better season than last year,” Davids noted, reiterating his satisfaction with the new signings made during the transfer window. He expressed confidence in the registrations across all areas of the team, stating, “After yesterday’s registration window closed, I am satisfied with the type of squad I have.”
Looking ahead to the friendly match against Gor Mahia, known as Simba Day, Davids touched on the fitness of players currently involved with the national team. He indicated that their participation in the match would depend on their involvement in the preceding game against Niger.
“It will depend on whether they start and play 90 minutes today. Tomorrow we will rest them to protect them from injuries,” he explained.
On behalf of the squad, attacking midfielder Mohamed Bajaber shared the team’s commitment to performing well in front of the fans. “We understand this is a friendly match, but every game is big for us.
We have planned to make sure we do well, especially knowing that our fans will come in large numbers,” said Bajaber, highlighting the importance of engaging with the passionate fanbase that supports the club.
As excitement builds for the upcoming season, Simba SC fans are eager to see how the team will fare with its renewed lineup and ambitious goals. Under Fadlu Davids’ leadership, the club aims not only to secure victories but also to establish itself as a dominant force in African football.
